After visiting many of the famous ancient sites like Pompeii and the Palace of Knossos, and after buying the T-shirt and the novelty mugs, we were looking for a way to take home more of the wonderful things we've seen! We felt that it would be great to be able to not only buy the artefacts but to also share our passion with others.
The team
The team currently consists of Steve and Jan.
Steve: I originally came from
Chicago (home of bulls and cows!) and after
acquiring a number of degrees in various diverse subjects,
I was looking for more from life. So after spending
20 years in customer service with Marshall Fields and
Sears, I moved to Washington DC and was employed giving
government money to education.
Looking for more adventure, I came across the pond
to London and gave money to a number of charities in the
south of England as a grants administrator. Some seven
years' later, I took to scratching my head again
to come up with another way to earn a living, and
do something I thoroughly enjoy. Hence half an Online
Relic was born.
Jan: I was born
within the sound of Bow Bells in London (technically,
that makes me a Cockney!) and am also a born-again
reliquary. After bringing up a family, and gaining
a number of degrees in such diverse subjects as Science
(specialising in Energy and Environment) and IT
(oh no! not more programming), I also
started wondering what else I could do that would express
my passion for history and archaeology. Hence the
"other half" of Online Relics was born.
Our aims
Online Relics is a London-based business that aims to present unique, museum quality reproduction artifacts from ancient civilisations that range from pre-history to the 10th century AD.
All of our products are carefully selected for their artistic attributes and contribution to world culture. We strive to select the perfect artisans or craftspeople to render each piece in all of the detail of the original.
