Board games were very common in Ancient Egypt and people from all levels of society played them.

However, the rules explaining how to play these games, alas, have not survived. By studying game boards and other evidence, experts have made some educated guesses about how these games were played.

Hounds and Jackals

A Windows shareware version of an Ancient Egyptian board game of which many have been found in tombs dating from approximately 2100 BC and which is known only by the name of Hounds and Jackals, because of the shape of its unique Hounds and Jackals playing pieces.

The game features stunning images, great game sounds, original MIDI background score, and MummyFacts of ancient Egypt. It is easy to learn and play, it teaches much about ancient Egypt, and is a lot of good fun besides.
