Narmer Palette
For the purposes of explanation, we have displayed the palette in brown. On one side of the palette is the king wearing the crown of Upper Egypt, who is represented by being of gigantic size and is in the act of killing an enemy whom he has seized by the hair.

On the reverse of the palette is a scene of the king, wearing the crown of Lower Egypt, and celebrating by sacrificing ten victims. The hieroglyphs above the scene read "The Great Port", which suggests that the celebrations took place when Narmer reached the sea.

This palette contains many interesting historical features, such as the use of the pineapple-shaped mace and the king's sandal-bearer as well as being the first representation of the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt.
