This brooch shows a large animal with its head to the right, a curved neck and distinctive forefeet. Two snakes wind around the neck and the feet.
The "Urnes"-style is from the late ornamental styles of the Viking era.
The replica is an actual size (4.5 x 3.8 cm) and made from British pewter. The detail extends to a clasp which is authentic to the period and is one of the most precious pieces of archaeological jewellery found from the Viking era.
The original is in bronze and preserved in the National Museum of Iceland.
